All tools are cleaned up to the BC Best Practices Guidelines for Cleaning, Disinfection and Sterilization of Critical and Semi-critical Medical Devices, using a 3 step cleaning procedure.
EmPower Foam is used as the first step to pre-clean critical or semi-critical medical devices prior to terminal sterilization or high level disinfection. It is a foaming dual-enzymatic spray that starts the pre-cleaning process by breaking down blood, tissue, mucus and other protein-rich bodily fluids from instruments.
Ultrasonic Cleaning is then done which uses cavitation bubbles induced by high frequency pressure (sound) waves to agitate a liquid. The agitation produces high forces on contaminants and also penetrates blind holes, cracks, and recesses. The intention is to thoroughly remove all traces of contamination. This is also used with EmPower enzymatic solvent to ensure instruments are fully cleaned before sterilization.
All tools are then individually packaged and sterilized in an autoclave. A medical autoclave is a device that uses steam at high pressure to sterilize equipment and other objects. This means that all bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores are inactivated. Each load is tested to ensure effectiveness of cycle.
